(EstateNewsWire.com, September 03, 2012 ) Hillsborough, Florida -- Given the local climate that's all too well known for its heat and humidity, when it comes the air-conditioning, Brandon, Florida residents would be the people to talk to. It was in places like this city in Florida where the technology was first put to use when it was originally developed.
So it should come as no surprise that it's home and business owners in Brandon, Florida that were among the first to take notice of new technological developments aimed at making air-conditioners more efficient and cost effective.
There's plenty of room for improvement in terms of energy consumption because when it comes to air-conditioning Brandon, Florida residents know all too well how a poorly maintained system using older technology can work to drive up a power bill.
So getting more cooling power of an AC unit is one area that research scientists have been focusing on. They've been working to come up with new ways to cool a greater area with a smaller, quieter unit takes up much less space and uses less energy.
So to find out what breakthrough AC technologies lie just over the horizon and what can be expected from them what better people to talk to then the experts at Air Serv of Hillsborough Florida (hillsborough.aireserv.com) where a company representative had the following to say in a recent phone interview.
“One of the most promising new developments comes in the form of desiccant technology that's being integrated into newer prototype test lab air conditioners that do a more cost effective job of removing moisture from the air. Desiccants are dry substances that pull water out of the air and we've all seen them used in little bags packed in with consumer items to keep them moisture free. It's the dry air in a room that's responsible for a major part of the comfort level brought about by air conditioning. The problem all along though, is that the method by which standard air conditioners remove the moisture from the air uses a lot of energy. So research scientists and product developers have come up with new ways of using desiccants to do the same job for less money.”
He also went on to point out that a lot of work continues to go in to the development more efficient solar technologies to power air conditioners. Carbon friendly AC units that can be powered off the free renewable energy given off by sunlight.
He said that the knowledge is there, in that scientists know how to make a far more efficient solar panel, and they have the plans on paper. It's a more complex matter of developing the manufacturing technology that allows what is known to be converted into actual products.
