(EstateNewsWire.com, August 26, 2012 ) San Francisco, CA -- The heat wave to have recently hit the United States shattered all previous records in the month of July 2012, which definitely has some weather experts concerned over whether it is due to climate change or something else.
But something that comes as reassurance to it not being related to any substantial climate changes is the fact that the previous record, which was set back in July of 1936, was just 0.2 degrees cooler than now. Overall, the average continental U.S. temperature was higher by 3.3 degrees Fahrenheit compared to any other 20th century year.
Due to such extreme temperatures, the U.S. also went through one of the worst droughts it has had to face in recent years along with vicious forest fires across the country like in Colorado which caused thousands of Americans to retreat to safer areas. This year, droughts also broke records with it being the most extensive since back in December of 1956.
The U.S. lost 2 million acres in July alone due to those extreme wildfires, the most since 2000.
With such heat hitting the nation on a consistent basis, experts warn residents to stay inside as much as possible and avoid direct sunlight for extensive period without proper protection to avoid skin burns and such injuries or heat strokes.
Greenhouse gases have also been termed by some analysts to be the cause for the rise in temperatures throughout the U.S., which has many worried about possible increases in the future to be even more violent in nature and consequences.
For now, there is no conclusive proof of rising temperatures are a direct cause since the U.S. is just 4 percent of the entire planet and relating anything with the States would not be reasonable. There have been many hot months in U.S. history, but July was definitely the hottest.
