(EstateNewsWire.com, August 24, 2012 ) San Francisco, CA -- According to the Calgary.ctvnews.ca, residents of Calgary, in Southern Alberta, Canada, are still cleaning up the dust after a major storm swept through the area, toppling trees, smashing windows and tossing debris across yards and neighborhoods.
A large number of accidents were reported, but amazingly, no one has been injured, the source further added.
It is a disaster for those who own swimming pools and have houses that are under construction. A house that was under construction in the northeast community of Winston Heights-Mountview was severely damaged by wind. The strong winds blew away one of the walls into the property next door and heavy equipment was brought in to move it back into place.
The Calgary Fire Department responded to over 130 calls during the catastrophe. On Deerfoot Trail, a large sign came crashing down in the middle of traffic and narrowly missed the vehicles parked under it. A pair of window washers had to take matters into their own hands after the swing stage they were on started bucking in the wind on the outside of a building downtown.
Natural disasters like tornadoes, hurricanes, floods, fires and earthquakes can bring out the best in people, as strangers reach out to people in desperate need. Unfortunately, a time of crisis can also bring about crimes, looting, and robberies.
While Calgary may have faced some harsh weather these past few years, this storm will definitely be one people remember for some time to come.
