Among the changes, she wanted to have custom designed beautiful window coverings that would suit her house. She wanted to get wooden plantation shuttlers for all five windows.
Nine months ago, Dalbik came across Showcase Shutters, a company owned by Ken Montoya, who is a shutter contractor.
Dalbik ordered shutters and also paid 50 percent money in advance, which was in the form of a $750 cheque, to Montoya who demanded it by saying that their policy is to take half down for payments in advance and the remaining 50 percent is recovered at the time of delivery.
Dalbik’s cheque was cashed in three days and after that the shutter contractor did not give any response. He also did not answer any phone calls from Dalbik . Dalbik called him almost every hour on the hour after the check was cashed..
Dalbik added, “After the check was cashed, he never returned a phone call, he never answered the phone. I called at all hours of the night, all times during the day I emailed, nothing!”
Then ‘3 On Your Side’ jumped into this issue and finally found Montoya, the shutter contractor, in Phoenix where he was running the shop.
When they asked him about the money and shutter delivery, he at first lied that the cheque bounced nine months ago. But later on he accepted that he’d done wrong and showed his willingness to pay the money back.
Montoya gave a cashier’s cheque of $750 to 3 On Your Side which they immediately delivered to Dalbik.
After getting her money back, Dalbik said, “I feel like I won Publishers Clearing House! You did for me in probably one hour what no one could do for me in nine months, so thank you, Channel 3.”
