(EstateNewsWire.com, August 22, 2012 ) San Francisco, CA -- After reviewing the previous performance of their home robots, the iRobot based in Bedford has added additional features to some of its indoor and outdoor robots which are totally consumer focused. These new additions will definitely enhance the performance of domestic robots.
iRobot has been making robots to solve practical problems for nearly a decade.Since then, the Bedford-based robot manufacturer business has been researching on finding some new ways to make their robot more effective performance wise.
According to iRobot product manager Jeff Karlson, they are keen to provide better services to the consumers and this is why they have been researching for new additions in the features of their robots that are used practically.
He said, “Those sensors did not exist in the previous version. It’s a much smarter robot. People who buy these are the ones that like to tinker around with these gadgets so we want to leave the functionality on the remote control.”
Recently, the iRobot launched two of its new robots, the iRobot Looj 330 and iRobot Roomba 600. The iRobot Looj 330 cleans gutters on its own at the press of a button while the iRobot Roomba 600 is more effective at vacuuming laminate, carpet and hardwood floors.
Karlson further said that the company added these new robots after they divided the business into three units focused on home robots, military robots and emerging technologies. Both Karlson and the engineering team are looking at the company’s progress in technology and have taken new initiatives to benefit the people with the two new versions of Roomba and Looj.
Looj was a gutter cleaning robot that worked manually and was controlled by the consumer. Using its sensors, Looj used to monitor the atmosphere of the gutter as it enters it and then decided to clean it up.
However, the new $299 Loojrobot spins at 500 RPM, and is 10 percent narrower than the first one. Now it works automatically on pressing a button and cleans the gutters of various shapes and sizes in five minutes.
As far as the new $329 Roomba 600 series is concerned, it will replace the Roomba 500 Series and will use iRobot’s AeroVac technology to work more effectively on hair, pet fur, lint, carpet fuzz and other fibres, according to the company.
