The fictional re-telling of her search for redemption, powerfully underscored with original music, offers theatergoers an extraordinary experience of haunting beauty and depth rare in the contemporary scene. Bringing the title role to life is veteran actress and recording artist, Christia Mantzky (Smoky Joe’s Café, Broadway).An important piece in the experience of "Magdalene" lies in the fictional storyline of how young Mary is raped by Roman guards and then turns to prostitution. As a result of this storyline, which brings to light the underexposed modern tragedy of human sex trafficking, International Justice Mission (www.ijm.org), who fights this issue all over the world today, has agreed to partner with "Magdalene" by having a presence in the lobby of every performance of Three Trees’ production as well as using a percentage of all profits from the show to bolster their mission.
