Many residential dryer vent systems no longer meet current safety standards. The vinyl and flexible foil kits sold in hardware stores are cheap and easy to install, but they are not really designed for use with dryers. These kits are fine for bathroom exhaust vents, but not safe for the hot air vented from the dryer.
