(EstateNewsWire.com, June 12, 2012 ) Plano, Texas -- As the economy continues to recover from the effects of the Great Recession, home sales are appearing to increase. An increase in the sale of existing homes is expected to help contribute to an increase in home remodeling projects. A continuation of low interest rates should also help increase home improvement spending.
Per K.A. Chatman, owner of Home Improvement The Easy Way, “Although the economy is rebounding, homeowners are still hesitant to spend on renovation projects especially the large ones.
These homeowners may also discover that home equity loans are hard to acquire due to tighter lending.” He later added, that homeowners who are fortunate enough to have access to funds via savings or loans, probably should start their home renovation projects very soon. “If one can acquire a lower interest rate (if applicable) or receive favorable terms from a remodeling company, it may be more cost-effective to invest in a home renovation project now.” Thus, these homeowners can justify the cost since most small home renovations are typically good long-term investments.
Homeowners who are unable to acquire financing or lack the funds for home renovation projects should check with their state. Some states may offer a program that provides affordable loans at low-interest rates for various types of home improvement initiatives. Some states and/or cities may also offer home renovation grants for low-to-middle income families. “It is important for homeowners to conduct their homework to locate all potential sources of funding. This funding could be provided by their city or state with the purpose of making their homes more energy efficient, safer, visually pleasing, and/or secure,” stated Mr. Chatman.
With the importance of sustainability over the past several years, homeowners may be shocked to find out that grants and/or affordable lending may be available for certain lower cost or small home renovation work.
