Rheem Water Heater Fire, Leakage Claims Under Investigation

(EMAILWIRE.COM, May 15, 2012 ) New York, NY – The attorneys working with Class Action.org are available to review claims from consumers who own a Rheem water heater which leaked, caught on fire or otherwise failed prematurely. It is believed that these consumers may have legal recourse in light of allegations that certain Rheem water heaters, some of which were distributed by General Electric (GE) and Rudd Manufacturing, contain a defect making them prone to these problems. If your Rheem water heater leaked or caught fire, you may be able to file a claim to recover compensation for repair and replacement costs, as well as property damage. To learn more about your eligibility for legal recourse, visit http://www.classaction.org/rheem-water-heaters.html and complete the free case review form on the right.

A number of consumers have alleged that they experienced Rheem water heater problems, some of which developed within only a few years of installation. These consumers claimed that their water heater leaked from the top, bottom or sides of the unit. One property owner alleged that the tank ruptured at the seam, flooding his home, while another claimed that the leaking heater caused water damage to his finished basement. In the most severe instances, a fire report found that one consumer’s water heater sparked internally and initiated a fire.

Several of the Rheem water heaters in question contain a warning which cautions consumers that the water heaters may leak, and to not install them in areas where nearby property or lower floors could become damaged. The warning further explains that in cases where such an installation is unavailable, an appropriate catch pan should be installed and drained on a regular basis. Allegedly, even a properly drained catch pan would not have prevented water damage from its overflow, as the water leaking from the heater will have exceeded its capacity.

If you have experienced water leakage or a fire from your Rheem water heater, the attorneys working with ClassAction.org would like to hear from you. They are looking to determine if consumers who experienced problems with certain Rheem water heaters can file a class action lawsuit to recover compensation for damages.
