The two types of dumpsters that are requested most often for rental include the “roll-off” dumpsters and the “front load” dumpsters. The Roll-off dumpsters are attached directly to the back of a truck and then “rolled off” at the location where it is needed. When the consumer is done, then the dumpster is reattached to the truck and carried to a landfill. Roll-off dumpsters are most commonly used for a larger job, which are temporary, such as construction or home remodeling. . The roll-off containers will be much larger and are labeled by cubic yardage, they range from 10 yards, 20 yards, 30 yards and 40 yards. A 40 yard roll-off dumpster will be approximately eight feet tall.
The front load dumpsters are attached to a truck through a latching mechanism. The truck will lift the unit up, dumping the waste into a container that is attached to the back of the truck. Front load dumpsters are used when no regular trash removal service is available and are usually retained on a more permanent basis such as may be found at apartment complexes, retail stores, offices, etc. Front load dumpsters are also labeled by yardage from 2 yards, 4 yards, 8 yards, and 10 yards. The 10 yard front load dumpster will also be eight feet tall but not as wide as the larger roll-off dumpsters.
