(EMAILWIRE.COM, January 18, 2012 ) Wilmington, NC - Chrysler pulled a stunt at the Detroit Auto Show that surprised everyone and created many questions, while answering very few in return. They unveiled, without any forewarning, their 700C minivan concept and then did nothing else.
The unveiling came with no press release or any other details about the vehicle. The concept merely sat there enticing passersby with its swept back chassis and dark windows. It did not have a grille for engine cooling or a visible tailpipe making many surmise that minivan is purely a plug in electric vehicle. Although it has the same number of seats as the current Chrysler and Dodge minivans, it is noticeably smaller.
Some at the auto show felt the concept minivan has a distinctive European feel suggesting that the American automaker may have a plan of selling it on both sides of the pond.
In any case, it seems as if at least one major domestic automaker is re-embracing the minivan. This could very well represent the start of a new trend. After all, family-friendly minivans provide as much, if not more room than sport utility vehicles while being more affordable to fuel and insure.
