The official The Rise of the Planet of the Apes release date is on December 13, 2011. It was one of the surprise movie hits of the summer starring James Franco and Andy Serkis, adn directed by Rupert Wyatt. It received lots of positive reviews and gained over $418 million at the box office worldwide.
Wyatt commented that the Rise of the Planet of the Apes movie is part of the Apes mythology, but it is not a direct remake of the other films. The movie is an original story and not a continuation of the series. “It does satisfy the people who enjoy those films. The point of this film is to achieve that and to bring that fan base into this film exactly like Batman Begins,” the director further explained.
Rise of the Planet of the Apes is about a chimpanzee that is genetically-enhanced during the experiments in search for a cure for Alzheimer’s disease. This chimpanzee uses its exceptional understanding and intellect to free other apes and lead them. Both DVD and Blu-ray formats include “Deleted Scenes,” “Mythology of the Apes” and “The Genius of Andy Serkis” as special features.
