SALT LAKE CITY - Mountain America Credit Union is pleased to recognize Ralph Flanagan and his wife Sue who were honored on January 30th by the St. George area Chamber of Commerce as The Washington County Community Service Volunteer of the Year. They were acknowledged at a ceremony held the evening of Saturday, January 30, at the Gardner Center on the campus of Dixie State College in St. George, Utah.
Ralph is an account Executive for Select Member services at at Mountain America Credit Union’s Washington Branch. He and Sue, a retired vice president and bank manager, have been actively involved in the Jump$tart Financial Literacy program, which provides funding and resources for instructors and schools to teach the principles of financial management to students. Utah is one of only four states which requires graduating seniors to have completed a semester of financial literacy course work.
“We are pleased that Ralph and Sue Flanagan are being recognized for their selfless service. They make us proud,” notes Sterling Nielsen, president and CEO of Mountain America Credit Union.
Both of the Flanagans are active in the Exchange Club and are involved in The Learning Center for Families and the Salvation Army. Ralph is a former Dixie Care and Share president. “I saw volunteers come together, support and donate and just make things happen . . . that has really sparked my interest in continuing to pay back to the community and to be able to reach out and do what needs to be done,” says Ralph.
