In the ongoing parlor game of who will replace Kenneth D. Lewis as Bank of AmericaÂ’s next chief, Bloomberg News reported that the bank is most likely to tap someone from its own ranks for the top job.
Bank of America executives seen as potential candidates include the bankÂ’s chief risk officer, Gregory Curl, and Brian Moynihan, who heads consumer banking.
The bank has turned its attention back inside after Bank of New York MellonÂ’s chief executive, Robert P. Kelly, withdrew from talks, Bloomberg News said, citing a person familiar with the matter.
Media reports had cited Mr. Kelly as the front-runner for the position, which Mr. Lewis is expected to vacate at the end of the year. However, as DealBook reported, Mr. Kelly reiterated yesterday that he planned to stay in his current job.
According to Bloomberg, no other outside candidate is actively engaged in talks with the bank now.
