(EstateNewsWire.com, April 11, 2013 ) Jakarta, Indonesia -- The MCA took the time to give itself high marks and general self-praise in a report card that charts its contributions to the Chinese community. It also claimed credit for the Putrajaya implementation for the policies that targeted the recapture of Chinese support.
Among the party’s successes that were listed within the report was the purported role in the driving of Najib administration to political reform as well as pushing the Putrajaya administration to help grow Chinese schools.
“These are based on accurate figures, not spins like what the DAP does,” MCA President Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek told reporters at the report card launch held at the party’s headquarters here.
The report will be utilized by the party in its campaign push for the election this year, and will come in an A2 size format, which will list MCA's contributions while rivals DAP and PKR struggle on the opposing side.
In the education segment of the report, the party stated it played a large role in creating the Najib government's push for increases for Chinese schools under the annual budgetary considerations, while several schools were expanded and seven new schools were constructed.
The party also claimed credit for the support towards the independent Chinese schools, as well as the recognition of students graduating with its own Unified Examination Certificate, that included Putrajaya's allowance under the program to apply to student grants and loans for those pursuing overseas education.
Datuk Wee Kai Siong, who is the MCA deputy education minister, drew anger and ire from the Chinese community when the Pahang BN government refused to supporters Chinese independent schooling. The party claimed it played a key role in the reversal of that decision, which then allowed subsequent construction.
