(EstateNewsWire.com, April 09, 2013 ) San Francisco, CA -- As the American economy finds its way to being more stable than it has been in the past half-decade, many are being bit by the 'moving bug'.
Almost half of Americans say that they would feel more comfortable in a purchase of a home today than at any other time within the past five years. This, according to the Mayflower survey. Nearly a third of the surveyed individuals say they are now ready to make a move.
Mayflower stated evidence that an attitude change regarding moving was noted in its 2013 first-quarter result. Compared to the 2012 mark, residential moves climbed by 16% in what is a historically slow month for moves.
The new data remains consistent with other national data that is showing continued rises within the existing home prices. Growth has appeared to be strongest within the West, wherein the Mayflower data has shown that of all respondents, 54% are now comfortable purchasing a house.
The data that has been collected reflects the relaxing of anxiety regarding not only the housing market, but also the American economy as a whole. The average American reports moving an average of six times in a lifetime, but nearly half of all Americans state that they put off moving since the 2008 decline. Overall, 37% cited economic instability as the major consideration to why they put off moving.
Despite overall readiness, however, Americans are still willing to admit that moving is a stress and often disliked activity. Over 44% would rather go a week without any internet connection than half to deal with a move. Another 52% of respondents would prefer a trip to the dentist, and 14% would rather have a root canal than deal with the logistics of a move.
