Reports from the Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries show that utes, vans, and SUVs sold just 362 units less than passenger cars in January 2013.

“These bigger cars that are coming into vogue also tend to be very versatile. Families tend to like them because the bigger size makes them feel that their kids are safer inside, and they can also pack more into the cars for road or camping trips,” said Milankovic.

New levels of fuel efficiency also make SUVs and utes much more attractive than they were in years past.
