As the two women worked together, they got to know each other. Dwyer was concerned when Marino talked about getting a second job to make ends meet. She recalled her childhood with an incredible father who was hardly ever home. She did not want to see her service technician sacrifice quality time with her family.
Dwyer worked with three other employees but she really identified with Marino’s ability to excel in a male dominated industry. She gave Marino a cash bonus to help fund her children’s college educations and money to help create the “Women in Trades Program.”
