(EstateNewsWire.com, January 04, 2013 ) Orlando, Florida - Of all the improvement jobs that a do-it-yourselfer can do to their home to enhance its curb appeal and further boost its value, painting, for sure, has to be one of the quickest and most cost-effective projects you can do.
Basic painting really only requires basic skills, and the products that are needed are readily available at any local warehouse hardware store.
The tools of the trade for a do-it-yourself painter are also pretty basic, but it seems that every now and then, a new tool arrives on the scene to be promoted as the latest 'whiz-bang' work saver.
One of the more recent to hit the Internet and the airwaves, for instance, is a new fangled type of small roller that's being heavily promoted as the latest must-have tool for cutting in around trim on doors and baseboards. Before a consumer buys it though, there is something to be considered.
That 'something' is that professional painters aren't buying them and using them and that should be the gold standard for any new laborsaving or cost cutting painting tool.
It's not out of arrogance, or indifference either, because anyone can bet they've tried it and found that while it might work well for the first three or four minutes, after that cleaning it and keeping it functioning, becomes more work than it was designed to save.
Painting a home and business will always be labor-intensive, but just ask any professional painter and they'll tell just about anyone that the more one does it, the better he gets. The more accurate one becomes and the more square footage he ends up covering for the work put out.
Painting will also always be messy, meticulous work, and nothing will ever change that. Prep work like laying down enough tarps to make sure floors, patios and sidewalks are covered, and then taping of tapering off windows and cabinets carefully are one's 'real labor savers' by way of preventing trips, rollovers and over-spray.
What the ads don't tell consumers is that a good quality paint job on a home or business means two, if not three good coats. Then even after the paint is applied with a sprayer, in many cases it still needs to be 'rolled in' by a second worker coming behind the spray person with a roller.
So it turns out that when it comes time to paint one's home or business, the key to fast professional results isn't the latest gadget being advertised on the Internet.
Instead, it's in making sure that you have the time-tested and proven tools of the professional painter, and that all your prep work done before you get started.
