(EstateNewsWire.com, December 14, 2012 ) Fresno CA: The Fresno Dryer Vent Cleaning Wizard is dedicated to preventing dryer fires in his community by educating consumers about the importance of dryer vent maintenance. While performing dryer vent service including dryer vent cleaning and new dryer vent installation, the Wizard brings his customer peace of mind knowing their dryer operates safely and efficiently. Jon Perry owns Dryer Vent Wizard of Central California. Jon enjoys providing an important home service while offering tips to his customers to prevent dryer fires while improving dryer performance.
With the frequency of dryer fires increasing during the fall and winter months, the Wizard adds holiday safety tips to his conversation with customers. According to the NFPA, there were an average of 260 home fires caused by Christmas trees each year between 2003 and 2008. These fires caused an average of 14 deaths, 26 injuries and $13.8 million in property damage each year.
Though Christmas tree fires are not common, they are devastating when they occur. 1 in every 5 Christmas tree fires are caused by a heat source being too close to the tree.
The Dryer Vent Cleaning Wizard (http://www.clovisca.dryerventcleaningnow.com) wishes everyone a safe and happy holiday season while offering the following tips for holiday safety:
Those who use an artificial tree, be sure it is labeled; certified, or identified by the manufacturer as fire retardant.
Those who choose a live tree should select one with fresh, green needles that do not fall off when touched.
Place the tree in a proper tree stand and water it daily
Place the tree at least 3 feet away from any heat source including fireplaces, radiators, heat vents and candles
Make sure the tree is not blocking an exit
Use lights that have a label of an independent testing laboratory. Read the packaging and use only as intended. Some lights are only designed for use indoors or outdoors, not both.
Check strings of lights each year for worn or broken cords and sockets or loose bulb connections.
Do not overload outlets. The label should indicate the maximum number of stings that can be connected and plugged into one outlet.
Dispose of tree when it begins dropping needles. Dried-out trees are a fire hazard and should not be kept in the home or left in the garage. Check with the local community for a recycling program. Bring outdoor lights inside after the holidays to prevent hazards and make them last longer.
The number one safety tip from the Wizard is to have the dryer vent system inspected by a qualified dryer exhaust expert. Do not leave home or go to sleep when the dryer is running and the Christmas lights are on.
Jon Perry was inspired to become a dryer vent cleaning Wizard in 2006 when he recognized the need to turn a serious situation into an energy saving and safe operating dryer vent system. With clothes dryers being present in 80 percent of American homes, there is a lot of potential for disaster. Visit http://www.dryerventcleaningfresnoca.com/ to learn more.
