(EstateNewsWire.com, November 25, 2012 ) Austin, TX -- The chairman of Victoria Carpets, Alan Bullock, has decided to retire, effective November 13, 2012.
Bullock, who has been in the textile business for more than 40 years, decided to retire after his ouster from the Victoria Carpets board of directors.
Victoria Carpets, is a subsidiary of Victoria PLC, and a leading carpet manufacturer in the United Kingdom and Australia.
Bullock, who had worked in the textile business since 1972, had been managing director of Victoria Carpets since 1995.
Bullock’s ouster from the board came after a heated dispute that had divided the 117-year-old company along family lines. The removal of Bullock and the Australian managing director leaves the company with only two active directors on its board.
A group lead by Alexander Anton, the great-grandson of company founder George Anton, was behind the removals at the board meeting.
Bullock claimed he had written evidence that Anton group was planning to break up the company and sell the business, a claim the consortium refutes.
Bullock in a statement, said, "I am retiring from a company that has a brand that I admire. The team I helped recruit over the years have the skills and knowledge to continue to keep Victoria as a leading brand name within an industry which over the years has seen many changes," Bullock said.
"I wish them all well and thank all the staff around the group for their loyalty and service and wish them well in the future. I also acknowledge the customers who over the years have been loyal to the brand, too."
In addition to retiring from Victoria Carpets, Bullock is also retiring from positions at Westwood Yarns, Victoria’s Australian carpet business, and Colin Campbell and Sons, all of which are subsidiaries of Victoria PLC.
