Over 100,000 people die of smoking related diseases in the UK every year. Cancer charity Cancer Research believes that as many as 50,000 people die of cancer and a further 70,000 people die from heart disease and strokes as a result of smoking. Stoptober is a new and exciting 28 day challenge to stop smoking. It runs in the month of October and is believed to help thousands of people to quit. This initiative has been setup by the NHS because it has been proven that if a smoker can stay smoke free for 28 days, they are 5 times more likely to quit for good.
