Granite is one of the hardest rocks extracted for construction purposes and the only type of cutting edge that will cut the hard stone is a diamond blade or a granite blade designed for cutting such a large block. Large saws designed for this processing cut the granite into long pieces of 2 to 3 inches in thickness each.

When the granite arrives to the contractor there is still additional work to be done. The granite countertop fabricator must measure the counter space and cut the granite to fit the homeowner’s specifications.
