(EMAILWIRE.COM, July 20, 2011 ) Livonia, MI -- In the U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) Report 11-433 to congressional requesters, it was found that in the past ten years mortgage documents required to be provided to the courts were improperly signed or notarized by banks, lending institutions and mortgage servicers.
In addition, academics in the home mortgage industry and court cases are raising questions over whether foreclosures are being brought forward legally because of concerns over how loans were transferred into Mortgage-Backed Securities (MBS).
The GAOÂ’s Mortgage Financing Report to the Subcommittee Chairman on Housing and Community Opportunity, Committee on Financial Services, House of Representatives, resulted in the continuance of the SubcommitteeÂ’s September 2010 decision to halt foreclosures throughout the country.
