(EMAILWIRE.COM, December 19, 2006 ) Houston, TX –- Some call it too much of the good life. Nationally, an increase in hemorrhoid cases is being reported according to medical giant Johnson and Johnson (NYSE: JNJ News). Some estimates claim as many as one million additional complaints requiring medical care are added each year. Doctor Dac Vu says an increase in hemorrhoid complaints in Houston has boosted traffic to his Center for Integrated Medicine. The doctor says he cannot attribute the growing number of clinic patients looking for hemorrhoid relief to any one cause but feels recent efforts at the clinic to educate patients about the often embarrassing condition may be partly responsible. “That,” says the doctor, “and the fact that we offer a non-surgical solution.” According to Vu, most people are familiar with the term “hemorrhoid” as a painful and embarrassing medical condition. “But we all have hemorrhoid tissue,” Vu says. Hemorrhoids are an essential part of our anatomy, according to the doctor. “What most people don’t understand,” says Vu, “is that hemorrhoids are cushions, a part of the normal anatomy and physiology within the anal canal.” They perform important functions in maintaining continence as an individual coughs, strains or sneezes. “The cushions fill with blood constricting the area to prevent unwanted leakage,” Vu explains. In short, hemorrhoids are a wanted, needed, even essential part of our anatomy.Swollen hemorrhoid tissue often itches, is uncomfortable and may even be painful. That is the hemorrhoid we look to our doctors for help against. “For the physician,” Vu says, “it is wise to inform the patient about the value and purpose of hemorrhoid tissue as a normal part of the anatomy.” Even more important, it is valuable to know that surgical removal may result in varying degrees of incontinence that becomes worse with age.Vu is treating patients with a non-invasive system called “Ultroid.” The Ultroid system (http://www.ultroid.com), says Vu, “has the patient treated in the office in a short time and back to their regular schedule the same day”—without surgery. This is a notable advantage over surgery, where there can be considerable pain after cutting as the anus tightens and relaxes. Healing may take as long as two weeks. Vu says, “Ultroid has taken away much of the ordeal and all of the pain associated with hemorrhoid therapy--enough that patients inquire about the procedure far more frequently than previously. ### About Ultroid Technologies, Inc.:Ultroid Technologies, Inc.
