(EstateNewsWire.com, October 26, 2019 ) This year’s Emmy Awards added a novel philanthropic initiative to their Governor’s Ball that will have a lasting effect in the community. In partnership with home furniture and accessories design company Living Spaces, the Television Academy created a furniture donation program that benefits two leading, non-profit organizations focused on providing safe and affordable housing to low-income families and homeless individuals.
All guests in attendance at the Governors Ball had the opportunity to visit the Living Spaces Instagram photo booth which featured the custom-designed upholstery vignettes.
At the conclusion of the Emmy Awards after-party, more than 80 custom sofas and other furnishings found new homes with the Hollywood Community Housing Corporation and Habitat for Humanity of Los Angeles - — leaving a permanent footprint despite the event only lasting a few hours.
Television Academy President and COO Maury McIntyre told Variety. “We were looking at what’s going on in our community, clearly the homeless community in Los Angeles is just growing and Hollywood needs to be a part of that solution.”
Founded in 2003, Living Spaces continues to be a trusted home shopping destination for homeowners and designers alike, offering an all-encompassing selection of furniture, accessories that span every room, style, and price point. Living Spaces also partners with renowned designers to bring exclusive collections, including Magnolia Home by Joanna Gaines.
Using this year’s Emmy theme of “Brilliance in Motion,” with rich colors of magenta, coral, purple, red and Emmy gold, Step and Repeat LA achieved an elegant look with a 10’ x 10’ media wall by putting enormous gold Emmy Award logos against purple and magenta colored backgrounds.
Step and Repeat LA is the leading backdrop company in the Los Angeles area, but their products are sought after around the country. They specialize in red-carpet backdrops, better known in the film and entertainment industry as 'step and repeats' and they provide media walls for a more dramatic effect. Step and repeats are used at fundraisers for charities, grand openings, birthday parties, weddings, celebrity events and major awards such as the Emmys.
